  • [outage] Stats server is down

Unfortunately, the server that hosts Shoutcast statistics and the Flash players is down again. This will affect the following:

Flash players

Javascripts (listener number, online/offline etc)

Some control panel online/offline icons

Server playlists hosted by us (pls, m3u, asx files)

The problem is being worked on and the server will hopefully be back online tonight.

Thank you for your patience.

  • Stats, Javascripts and Flash player server restored

The server that hosts flash players, javascripts, some stats (such as maps and graphs) has now been reinstalled and set back up. Unfortunately, the history data was corrupted so I was unable to fully restore the graphs on most accounts. This means that history graphs for most people have been reset.

Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause but I did try everything to restore the data, but was ultimately unable to due to the need to get the server back up and running asap.

  • All back to normal

The nameserver that we lost has been set back up on a new IP.

We now have the full 1GB of RAM so the control panel should be back to normal.

And on a different subject, the RAM upgrade on uk1-vn seems to have done the trick.

  • I’ve just realised..

A small number of customers have reported extreme slowness on the AutoDJ control panel. I’ve noticed that after the Vaserv incident, they have put all of their customers on to reduced RAM plans, so we only have 512MB instead of 1024MB – this could be the cause of the issue.

It seems odd that other control panel areas are not affected, but this could be the reason so please be patient. If you get errors then keep trying, it will work eventually.

  • it’s that uk1-vn again

I’m going to reboot uk1-vn due to problems causing the control panel to stop. This server has been a bit awkward lately and strangely, it’s one of the most powerful servers on the value network.

Still, I’ll probably get a brand new server because this one has never seemed quite right..

  • A quick note

Pretty much everything apart from one of our DNS servers is now back online (not a big problem as long as the other one stays up, no reason to think otherwise), however there may still be a few problems for some customers. We have had reports of the websites not showing up correctly (shows a DNS Updating page) – if this happens then try rebooting your computer, this should do the job.

One problem caused by the DNS still updating is that some Paypal notifications are not being posted to the billing system, so if you have made a payment in the last day then please check to see that the invoice is listed as ‘Paid’, if it shows ‘Unpaid’ then please open a ticket. This won’t fix itself so we need to know.

One other issue that seems to have only affected one customer so far is that the AutoDJ control panel is running slowly – like I say, only one report of this so not 100% confirmed but this should improve over the next day (probably also due to DNS updating).

  • Apologies to uk3-vn customers

Sorry, I just turned off all streams on uk3-vn by accident – this caused about 5 seconds of downtime.

The reason is that the ‘stop all’ link is right next to the ‘next page’ link in the admin panel! I’ll be more careful in future.

  • New transcoder system

We will be introducing a new transcoder system which will give customers more control over their configuration.

Currently, only the source stream can be changed but this will enable customers to change the title, genre, bitrate/sample rate/channels, source servers and more advanced control such as low/hi pass filters. Song titles will also be more reliable.

The system us currently under development and I just need to fix a few issues over the next few days (the main one is that when the source stream disconnects, the transcoder stops).

  • Rebooting USA1-VN

USA1-VN is going to be rebooted shortly due to some slowness. The server has been running since november without any reboots and the control panel has started to run a little slowly so this should speed it back up again.

Estimated downtime: 2 minutes.
