  • Scheduled maintenance – Premium network Shoutcast servers

In order to make improvements to our statistics, we will be performing maintenance which will result in Shoutcast servers on the premium network being restarted. This will result in a minute or so of downtime.

This will allow us to display the statistics you require for reporting in a more user friendly way, you will no longer need to run reports as the new system will get the stats automatically at the end of each day.

Maintenance schedule:

Date: 4th April 2013Time: 2AM BST (GMT+1)
Expected downtime: < 1 minute

The same will be applied to value network servers in the coming week.

  • Geo Lock added to Premium Network servers

Just added new Geo Lock feature to the Premium Network streaming service so you can now limit which countries can listen to your stream. Anyone outside of the authorised countries will see a message explaining that the service is not available in their country.

If you want to use this then log in to the panel at http://streampanel.mixstream.net, and you will see a new Geo Lock link under your server settings. As this is an advanced service, we don’t plan to add it to Value Network servers just yet.

Hello,

We are making some changes to the mailing list and need to delete all of the emails that are currently registered. Service updates were previously hosted on the same WordPress site. This resulted in 1000s of email addresses being hosted on the mailing list which has started to slow down delivery of important announcements – sometimes by several hours.

If you are using any of the following services then please re-subscribe your email address at http://status.bellonline.co.uk/mailing-list/

Web Hosting, Shoutcast, AutoDJ, Transcoding, Dedicated Servers (you can view a full list of categories on the site)

If you are using FreeStreamHosting.org then please don’t sign up for this mailing list, you will be sent another email shortly with further instructions.

As before, you will be sent a link to confirm your subscription and choose the categories you’d like to sign up to.

We recommend that you choose updates for the server(s) that you are hosted on to avoid receiving emails that don’t affect your service. If you are unsure about which server(s) you are on then please open a support ticket and we will be happy to get the information for you.

Regards,

Bell Online Ltd- http://status.bellonline.co.uk/

  • Flash player, stats server outage

We are currently experiencing an issue with the server that hosts our Shoutcast stats and Flash player (shoutcast.mixstream.net).

The server is currently being tested as it won’t boot up. There is no ETA at the moment but we hope to have the server back up shortly.

This does not affect any stream servers, all streams are up – it’s just the flash player and stats not working at the moment.

  • Stream your Shoutcast streams to Blackberry users

I am pleased to announce that MixStream now supports streaming to Blackberry users with no need for additional plugins or complicated instructions – your listeners can now tune in on their Blackberry at the click of a link.

To test the system, please open your Blackberry browser and navigate to this page. When you click on the following link, it will open up the Blackberry player and play a 24k Shoutcast stream:

http://usa1-pn.mixstream.net/8208.sdp

This service is now available on all Premium Shoutcast accounts and will soon be rolled out to Value Shoutcast and possibly free services.

To access your Blackberry stream, please use the following link format:

http://[SERVER ID].mixstream.net/[PORT].sdp

I am also looking in to adding more features for mobile users as mobile technology is becoming more advanced and a lot of station owners are keen on making it as easy as possible to provide streaming content to their users.

  • IP database updated

The GeoIP database used forfinding the location of listeners in the stats has been updated. This should reduce the number of ‘unknown’ listener locations in the stats are of the control panel.
